Your Guide to Rapid STI Testing at CBD Doctors Melbourne – In person or via telehealth
We’ve made STI testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea easy, fast and discreet. Here’s what to expect when attending an in-person appointment or telehealth:

How does the process work?
- Book and appointment
- Book your appointment either in person or via telehealth using Hotdoc. Please note prepayment is required on Hotdoc to secure your appointment.
- Once you have selected the doctor and time your prefer, select Rapid STI test as the reason for seeing the doctor.
- Consult with your doctor
- Speak to your doctor in the clinic or via telehealth.
- During your appointment the doctor will ask a few questions about your general health and sexual history, and:
- Explain the process
- Provide you with a specimen kit.
- If you have booked a telehealth. The doctor will invite you to come into the clinic when suits you best to provide your samples. Please collect the kit from reception. Kit dropped off before 4pm will be provided with same day results.
- Sample collection
- Confirm your name, date of birth and address.
- Ensure the details match the referral and labels on your sample containers.
- Hand over your specimens to reception.
- Receive your results same day
- Get your results same day if your specimen is provided by 4pm. (It may take as little as 40 minutes to get results).
- If you result is negative, your results will be emailed to you, directly without the need to talk to a doctor again.
- If your results are positive a doctor will contact, you to discuss the best treatment plan for you.
What happens if I need medication or treatment?
Medicare cardholders:
- If you are prescribed oral medication and have Medicare, we can send you an electronic script.
Non-Medicare card holders:
- If you don’t have Medicare and we have your IHI number on file, we can still send you a script electronically (email or SMS). If you don’t have IHI number, you will need to come to the practice to pick up the script.
Treatment:
- If an injection if required, we provide them on site – you’ll simply need to return to the clinic. Please note, an injection will cost $30 (it is not included in the $150).
If you are a traveller and only have travel insurance, this is the most suitable test for you. No waiting for 2-3 days to complete the process and no bills from the lab. Simply book, walk in and get it done.
