We know how hard and isolating it can be to decide to terminate your pregnancy. We respect your decision to choose and don’t want you to feel like you are alone. That’s why we are improving our services to include ongoing nurse support during your termination and post your doctor consultation.

In line with the strict Australian guidelines, we have been offering a complete service for medical terminations of pregnancy for the past 8 years except now with more going on support.

To make your journey even a little bit easier and less traumatic we have increased our nurse support services. This includes checking in with you post your doctor consultation via a phone consultation to answer any of your questions. Free of charge of course.

Have a referral from another clinic ? Not a problem we are also accepting referrals from other general practitioners. Your GP will be able to explain and to refer for all necessary tests.  Once you completed all tests, you may come to the CBD Doctors Melbourne for further management (medications, counselling and follow up).

Process:

1. Book appointment: Book your first appointment via our website and select “medical termination of pregnancy” as the reason for seeing your doctor.
2. Attend 1^st appointment: Attend your doctor’s appointment to discuss the options available to you. At this appointment you will receive all the necessary referral. In a majority of the cases you will be able to get complete most of your tests on the same day.
3. Ultrasound Book an obstetric ultrasound with an external provider.
4. Attend 2^nd appointment: 24 hours after your ultrasound, attend your second appointment. At this appointment your doctor you review your results, prescribe all the necessary medications and provide insights on the process. You may also be ale to collect all the medication from the practice. Just speak to you doctor on the day.
5. Nurse Check In Call: 2 days later one of our friendly nurses will call you to check in. This is your opportunity to ask questions and clarify anything you need.
6. Call the Practice Anytime: During the procedure, you are welcome to call the practice and ask any questions you may have.

Cost Involved:

First appointment: Out of pocket $67 – $132 depending on complexity and time required.

Laboratory: blood tests. Please speak to your insurance if you don’t have medicate. These fees are different to appointment fees.

Ultrasound. This is covered by most private health insurances and Medicare. It is likely you may be out of pocket $100-$150 depending on the radiology company.

Second appointment: out of pocket $67.  

 Medication: $50 if you have Medicare. $500 if you don’t have Medicare. Please note your private health insurance may not pay for the medication. If you are not in Melbourne, we can post your medication via registered post. Please note fees apply.
